Dr. Kent Russell and Lauren Russell

        I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas with my parents and two older sisters. My journey into medicine has taken me through several places but ultimately brought my family and me to Wichita Falls, the community we are proud to call home.

       My wife, Lauren, and I met at Oklahoma Baptist University, where I played baseball and she played tennis. After college, we moved to the Appalachian Mountains in Harrogate, Tennessee where I attended DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. We spent three years there before moving to Oklahoma City for my residency training at Saint Anthony, where I completed three years of Family Medicine residency. It was also during residency that we welcomed our first child, Olive.

        In 2017 Lauren and I found our way to Wichita Falls and we have been fortunate to call this community home ever since. It was during our first year with United Regional that we had our second daughter Othelia. I have had the privilege of practicing with URPG for the past nine years, caring for patients and families throughout our community. I have delved into the cycling world over the last three years and you will see me on the trail from time to time riding. 

     I have always believed that some of the most important work we do in medicine happens before someone becomes sick. I am passionate about prevention and helping patients understand their health so they can make informed decisions about the future they want for themselves and their families. Every patient is different and I believe good medicine starts with an open conversation about what matters most to you. I strive for honest, meaningful communication with my patients.

        My goal is to come alongside you as a partner and help guide you through the medical challenges that inevitably come throughout life. Sometimes that means working toward better health and prevention; other times it means navigating a new diagnosis, a difficult decision or an unexpected change in circumstances. Whatever the challenge, I want my patients to know that they have a physician who will listen, be honest with them and walk alongside them.  Doing this well takes time which is one of the things that excites me most about Direct Primary Care.

       Stratos DPC will provide me the opportunity to spend that time with my patients and practice medicine in a way that allows these relationships and conversations to develop to their fullest.  I am incredibly grateful for the years I have spent caring for this community and I am excited about what lies ahead. Most of all, I look forward to continuing to serve the people and families who have made Wichita Falls home for us.
